Brazil’s most gender-balanced line on the ballot is the one no quota touches

Women are about 43 per cent of the candidacies registered for vice-governor in October’s election and about 16 per cent of those for governor. Neither office is covered by the candidacy quota that governs Brazil’s proportional races.
