About The Fold
The Fold is an independent news publication that distills each day's most consequential stories into clear, concise reporting — across world affairs, national politics, local life, markets, and technology.
What we do
There is more news published every day than anyone can reasonably read. The Fold exists to cut through it. We cover the stories that matter and explain them plainly — without the filler, the autoplay video, or the ten paragraphs of preamble before the point.
Every report is written to be read in a few minutes and understood in a single pass. We would rather run one clear story than five noisy ones.
What we cover
- International — world affairs, diplomacy, conflict, and climate.
- National — the economy, politics, policy, and the federal government.
- Local — housing, transit, education, and development.
- Markets — equities, currencies, crypto, and the macro picture.
- Tech — artificial intelligence, hardware, antitrust, and the frontier.
Our standards
Accuracy first. Stories are compiled and cross-checked against multiple independent reports before they run. When the facts are contested or still developing, we say so.
Corrections. When we get something wrong, we fix it and note the change. If you spot an error, our contact page explains how to flag it.
Independence. The Fold has no paywall. The site is supported by advertising, which is kept clearly separate from editorial decisions — advertisers have no say in what we cover or how.
Who's behind The Fold
