Apple and Intel reach preliminary deal for US-made device chips
After more than a year of talks, Apple and Intel have struck a preliminary agreement under which Intel will manufacture processors for Apple devices at its US fabs, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday. Intel's shares jumped 14 per cent to a record close as Apple looks to diversify away from sole-supplier TSMC.
TSMC raises chip-market forecast to $1.5 trillion as 2nm and A16 capacity set to grow 70% a year
TSMC told its 2026 Technology Forum that the global semiconductor market will exceed $1.5 trillion by 2030, with AI and HPC accounting for 55 per cent. Capacity at its leading-edge 2nm and A16 nodes will grow at a 70 per cent CAGR through 2028.
