The S&P 500 added 0.75 per cent to 7,499.88 by mid-morning Thursday, extending a record run after Donald Trump and Xi Jinping endorsed a "strategic stability" framework in Beijing. The Dow rose 0.79 per cent; the Nasdaq added 0.84 per cent.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 294 points to a record close of 50,579.70 on Friday, the S&P 500 added 0.37 per cent to 7,473 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.19 per cent to 26,344 as traders priced in growing odds of an Iran war ceasefire framework.
