Public transport in Paris and the surrounding Île-de-France region is operating under significant disruption from May 4 to May 10, with operators citing maintenance work timed to coincide with the long Ascension weekend, when commuter volumes are typically lower.
The RER C suburban rail line is running an exceptional daytime service through the central Paris tunnel, with substitute buses replacing some western branches on three afternoons. Suburban Line K is fully suspended for the week, with replacement coaches between Crépy-en-Valois and Mitry-Claye.
Two metro lines saw evening disruption on Wednesday following separate signalling incidents, with Line 13 and Line 8 running a reduced service between roughly 8pm and the end of service. RATP said both lines had returned to normal operation by Thursday morning.
The European Sleeper service from Paris Gare du Nord to Berlin via Brussels continues to run three nights a week. From mid-July, the train will also call at Hamburg, opening a single-night-train route from the French capital toward Scandinavia.
Île-de-France Mobilités said works planned around the Ascension period also covered preparatory upgrades for the long-promised MI20 trainsets that will eventually replace the current RER B fleet, although deliveries are not expected to begin in passenger service this year.
Riders are encouraged to check the IDFM mobile application for last-minute timetable changes through the weekend.
