Nvidia used the Computex trade show in Taipei to launch Cosmos 3, which it describes as the first fully open 'omnimodel' for physical AI. The system natively understands and generates text, images, video, ambient sound and actions, and is built to compress the training and evaluation cycles for robots and other machines from months down to days.
At its core is a mixture-of-transformers architecture that pairs a reasoning transformer with an expert generation transformer. Nvidia says the design lets the model grasp object interactions, motion and spatial-temporal relationships before it generates video and action trajectories, an attempt to make machines 'think before they act' in physical settings.
The company said Cosmos 3 was trained on one of the largest multimodal physical-AI datasets assembled to date, spanning billions of samples across text, image, video, sound and action data. That breadth is intended to give the model a general understanding of how the physical world behaves, a persistent challenge for robotics developers.
Cosmos 3 comes in two sizes, a 32-billion-parameter 'Super' variant and an 8-billion-parameter 'Nano' version, aimed at developers building robots, autonomous vehicles and vision-based AI agents. By releasing the model openly, Nvidia is courting a wide base of builders who can adapt it to their own hardware and applications.
Alongside the launch, Nvidia introduced what it calls the Cosmos Coalition, a collaboration among world-model builders and AI developers including Agile Robots, Black Forest Labs, Generalist, LTX, Runway and Skild AI. The group is meant to advance the next generation of world models that simulate physical environments.
The announcement extends Nvidia's strategy of supplying not just chips but the software foundations for emerging AI markets, with physical AI and robotics among the areas it is betting will drive the next wave of demand. Computex, one of the industry's largest gatherings, provided a fitting stage as global appetite for AI infrastructure shows little sign of cooling.
